Forgive me, my father!
When I was young, at country fairs,
I didn't look for stupid shooting galleries
Where every effort wins,
But the place full of cries where the asses with their tired flanks
Deployed that long bloody tube which I still don't understand...!

And when my mother
Whose nightdress had a bitter smell
Ragged at the hem and yellow as a fruit,
My mother, who clambered into bed with a noise
-Which was, nonetheless, a son of toil , -
My mother with her ripe woman's thigh,
The linen creased between her fat haunches,
Gave me heats one doesn't talk about!...

A cruder and a calmer shame was when
My little sister, coming home from school
Skated in her clogs upon the ice, and then she
Pissed, and watched a fragile stream of urine
Escape her lower lip, tight-clenched and pink...

Oh, forgive me!
I dreamed about my father sometimes:
Evenings, and the card games and the dirty words,
The neighbor, me they pushed aside; things seen...
- A father is disturbing! - and things imagined.
His knee, cajoling sometimes, his pants leg
And the fly my finger longed to open ...-oh no!
To have the dark thick hard knob of my father
Whose hairy hand had rocked me!

I'd rather not talk
About the chamber pot, the long-handled plate glimpsed in the attic,
Almanacs covered in red, the basket of lint and the Bible,
And the privies and the housemaid,
The Holy Virgin and the crucifix...
Oh! No one
Has ever been so troubled and astonished
And now that I may be granted pardon
Since my tainted senses have made me their victim
I confess and avow my youthful crimes!......
Then may I be allowed to talk to the Lord!
Why this puberty so late and the misery
Of this tenacious gland, too often consulted?
Why the slow-moving shadow at the base of the belly?
And these countless fears that always overwhelm my joy like black gravel?
I've always been stupefied! What do I know?
.......................................................................................
Forgiven?...
Come back to the blue armchair,
My father.
O that childhood! ...........................................
......................................... -.and let's whack off!

Translator's note: In the fourth line from the end, a "chancelière" is a piece of furniture lined with fur or wool, for warming one's feet during the winter. I couldn't find a parallel concept; "armchair" at least suggests the notion of homey comfort.

Fatigué, déployaient ce long tube sanglant

Quoi savoir ?
.........................................................................
Pardonné ?...
Reprenez la chancelière bleue,
Mon père.
O cette enfance! ..................................................
................................................................................
..............
................................................- et tirons nous la queue !
